Way out in the desert.
Way out in the middle of the Arizona desert, sits a little “bar”. Lovingly named the Nachyos bar by its builders. Its hard to find, and even harder to leave. Hand built and solar powered. It is a fun place for off-roaders to kick back after a day of riding. My husband and I stumbled upon it accidentally one day while out riding. I fell in love with the look of it and an idea spurred. We were out again another night with our kiddos and saw another side by side out, he waved us down and invited us to come over to “Thirsty Thursday” over at the Nachyos bar. (Now before you start “oh my gosh you took your kids to a bar” its not a bar bar, they don’t serve alcohol or drinks, its just a place to hang out.) So we followed him back out to it and hung out there for the evening with the kiddos. While a handful of little ones ran around and played in the desert and the adults talked and laughed, the idea grew in my mind. The more I looked at it, and the sky line behind it, the more I knew I had to do a session at this gorgeous location. However, setting up a session here would be quite the ordeal.
First off, I needed an EPIC dress, so I managed to get my hands on a GORGEOUS Flutter dress (which I highly recommend by the way, they are stunning and I currently have two of them in my client closet!) Then I had to find a couple adventurous enough to take the trek out there with me. Now, just a few days before this session we had a MASSIVE storm. Like, crazy epic storm that washed out all our roads and did some major changes to the desert landscape. So I knew we definitely didn’t want to go alone, especially knowing we had only really been there once knowing where it actually was, since the first time, we found it by accident. So I recruited my amazing neighbors Arbos in Motion, who know this desert like the back of their hand. My wonderful couple pulled up in their truck, my neighbors had their Bronco, dirt bike, and their Can-Am out, and we were in our Razr and we were off! After navigating some tricky washed out roads, and some hills that a Toyota Tacoma probably shouldn’t have been able to do (props Gabe, that was pretty awesome!) We made it out there, the session went off without a hitch and was absolutely perfect as I knew it would be! We all hung out for a while and chatted and started to head home!
Heading home managed to be a bit more eventful than I planned. It was dark, someone took a wrong turn, but thankfully, we had my amazing neighbors and Kevin saved the day. He drove up and got Gabe and Breanna out of a scary wash as their truck was on bone dry empty. He led us all to a safe route, and got everyone home! Thank goodness for them! I always say, I won the neighbor lottery with those incredible humans.
After posting these images I was flooded with comments “oh hey thats our bar!!!” I had no idea that it was “someones.” It should have crossed my mind, but my brain was entirely focused on getting the perfect shot. Since then, I have come to learn a lot about this bar from the people behind it. It is quite an amazing story. March 31st 2019 ground breaking on it began, 4 people on the first day then others on another weekend. It evolved from there. The idea came from a riding area down in Golden shores, they have a smaller but similar version of this, and the people involved (who want to remain anonymous) wanted to build one, but build it closer. Once they found the perfect location, it began. They all had parts from their own homes they brought out there (like I said, its not an easy ride out there so that had to have been a lot of work, they are so dedicated!) They just wanted somewhere to ride to and hang out. So far there have been no vandals. They are trying to keep it that way. They have had to do some mass trash clean ups recently. Seriously guys, if you pack it in, pack it out please. These people worked really hard on this desert oasis. We don’t get a lot of shade spots out here, so let’s not go ruining such a rad location that so many people worked hard to build!
I have been asked many times since publishing the pictures “where is it?!?” It’s not my location to share, I won’t be the one to let the cat out of the bag. All I can say is, Go find a rad group of people to ride with and find it yourself. Thats how most people tend to find it. When you do find it, be respectful, and keep it a cool little spot for everyone to continue to enjoy.
Anyways, Enjoy these epic pictures, from an epic location, on an epic night…. Ok, I will stop saying epic now…. EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC hahahaha.
Also, I linked the amazing Arbos youtube channel so be sure to check that out, and I linked the incredible Flutter dresses, so make sure you check both of them out. Thanks so much for reading!
